“You can’t sell your product alone.” This statement sets me off no matter what product I work on. It feels like my product is second-rate or not a real product.
I know some products don’t work without other products.
I prefer to think in terms of products in a solution. Interchangeable products enable success for customers and product teams.
I wrote this article after being directed to inform sales that my product can only be sold with one specific product. As I considered this message from the sales perspective, I devised a better way to communicate with sales.
Instead of following this request exactly, I focused the message to sales on the best solution for customers is my product plus the other product.
