What Prompted this Article?

I’m usually not upset when I hit an obstacle in product management. I don’t mind hearing “We’ve never done it this way before”. This means I didn’t communicate well. I can do something about this.

I wrote this article after every functional team except marketing told me they couldn’t commit to the features in the next release. The reason they couldn’t commit was a pending re-organization and strategy update.

I wrote about taking these steps in the article:

  1. Prepare for the possible outcomes of the pending organization changes

  2. Focus on what I control

  3. Keep a decision log to document what is on hold

I missed some key steps in this article!
