What Prompted this Article?
This article started with a direct message on LinkedIn from Tanuj. He commented that I had been doing product management for more years than he had been alive! We decided to talk further on a video call about a collaborative article.
After our video call, I read through my daily notes from 2003-2004. I discovered that I was “snacking” on many unrelated tasks. A few major projects were mixed in, but it was hard to recall my accomplishments.
I almost told Tanuj that we shouldn’t write the article. I couldn’t come up with anything to write about!
It took a few days of reflecting on my product management activities to conclude there hasn’t been much change in product management in the past 20 years!
