I’ve had a big job on the roadmap for 8 months. I keep pushing it out with every roadmap update due to spotty demand.
It is one of those chicken-and-egg items. Sales works around it because it requires partners. So the demand arises late, and there is no time to onboard a partner.
The roadmap idea is to onboard partners and then market the new capability with partners. In today’s environment, betting on future customers is pretty risky.
I had a spike in sales requests for this type of partner when I wrote this article. I outlined the steps to build a business case, review with leaders and generate small wins to kick off this type of roadmap item.
