This is the annual reader appreciation issue of Product Management IRL! This marks one year of weekly articles on product management in the real world.
Your support has kept me coming back each week to tell you about overcoming a challenge in product management.
Highlights From a Year of Articles
Thanks to your support, Product Management IRL has grown from 75 subscribers to over 2000 subscribers!
Based on impressions, the most viewed articles on handling product management challenges are:
Why Write an Article Every Week?
I began writing articles to work out a solution to an on-the-job issue. By reading how other product managers solve problems, I learned fresh ways to handle my challenges. I have met many great product managers this past year! Hearing feedback from readers about dealing with their product issues is a weekly highlight.
Another highlight is catching up with colleagues from my past jobs. It is amazing to see how far my coworkers have come in their careers. The direct messages mean a lot!
An unexpected benefit of running Product Management IRL is the opportunity to meet other newsletter writers. I'm in awe of people with full-time jobs who can post insights daily. The daily postings, in-depth articles, podcasts, and video content have been a source of new ideas.
What Else is New?
I introduced backstories to paid subscribers in June. I write about what happened each week when I followed the steps from a recent Product Management IRL article. Each backstory covers:
What prompted the article from an on-the-job experience
What happened after the article
Takeaways from the article
The backstories are posted here.
In May, I created a searchable database of articles on Product Management IRL with learning paths:

What is Ahead for Product Management IRL?
Besides continuing the weekly newsletter and backstories, I'm considering other ways to share what I learn. I might add videos or an ebook. A lot can happen in a year!
